Convert between FLV and other video formats for PCs and portable devices

FLV.com FLV Converter can help you transcode clips to other video formats. In this regard, it is good that it supports the most popular formats, such as MOV, MP4, WMV, AVI, FLV and 3GP. Additionally, it allows converting to MP3, which makes it useful to extract audio from video as well. The program has the main advantage of having a very compact interface. It has three different tabs, labeled Convert, Activity and Play.

From the Convert tab, you can import the file you want to convert. It also lets you pick one of the target presets available, which are intended to make the resulting video compatible with specific playback devices. However, you can also use customized output parameters. It is also possible to set a conversion quality: high, optimal, medium, low or same as original. Yet, you should be aware that it does not make sense to use a quality higher than the source as this will not upgrade the video. In terms of audio, the program can also change the original audio. Finally, it is also allowed to extract a given fragment from the video. Unfortunately, you should manually provide the start and end times without any visual feedback.

The Activity tab is simply there to help you monitor the status of the conversions taking place. Finally, the Play tab, with an obvious name, works a media player. Unluckily, I would not recommend it as your default player because it has quite a limited quantity of features.

All in all, despite its name, FLV.com FLV Converter can do much more than just converting FLV video. However, it is way behind other similar converters in terms of supported formats. The product is free to use but some features, like batch conversion, require upgrading to the Plus version.
